More on the Frank Beattie Dinky Collection

As we approach the auction of the fabulous Frank Beattie Dinky Toy Collection, we thought we’d share this extended video preview highlighting the collection in more detail. Frank was very particular with how he added Dinky Toys to his collection. Known to buy at Toy Fairs and Auctions throughout the UK, condition was paramount, closely followed by variations.

On unboxed early post-war toys, he often sought baseplate and hub variations of the same issue (which can be clearly seen within the collection). When it came to boxed toys, he would sometimes sit for hours at an auction waiting for a specific lot where the box was the only item of interest. Frank would also regularly upgrade particular issues if a better one was found and was equally keen to find those harder to find colours that collector’s so often seek within their collections. The beautifully presented Jaguar XK120’s, Austin Wagons and Fodens are just a few examples of rarer toys within the Dinky stable that Frank owns. Many other harder to find issues can be seen within the catalogue.

For many collector’s, it’s not just about rarity and within Frank’s collection, many more-affordable variations were added, albeit on the strict terms they had to be top condition! Highlights including a set of the various advertising vans shown below.

Lastly, we have uploaded a walk-around video to showcase the collection in full. It’s been a pleasure to catalogue and fingers crossed for a deserving amount of interest at the auction, which the collection certainly deserves!
