The Alan Marshall Code 3 Truck Collection
Alan Marshall – 16.10.1944 – 19.1.23
M&M Specialist Auctioneers are proud to be offering to collectors the magnificent collection of the late Alan Marshall.
Alan lived at Ivy Cottage on Tillbridge Road, Sturton by Stow all his life and attended Sturton Primary School followed by Sturton Secondary School. He was an only child and never married.
He joined Rose Bearings as an engineering apprentice and worked for the company throughout his career, starting at their site in Saxilby. The company eventually moved to a new site off Doddington Road in Lincoln and Rose Bearings became part of the Japanese company, NMB Minebea UK Ltd. in 1987. Alan took early retirement from the Technical department in 1999 but not before he’d had chance to visit Minebea’s operations in Japan. He liked to travel abroad and particularly enjoyed his visits to the United States and New Zealand.
Alan had a large garden and since being retired he spent a lot of time in his greenhouses, growing vegetables and flowers and was often seen on his ride-on mower.
He was also able to concentrate on his hobby, collecting and modelling HGVs. His ambition was to have a lorry model in the livery of every haulier in Lincolnshire. He regularly attended toy fairs at Lincoln Showground, Newark Showground, Spalding and Doncaster Racecourse and met likeminded friends and acquaintances. He often worked with model maker Dave Robinson from Immingham and had a good selection of his models in the collection. As time went on Alan also took an interest in agricultural and plant models, as well as aviation and railway.
He was a lifelong member of St Mary’s, Stow and was Churchwarden for many years, a position he relished. He supported the local horticultural show and sponsored the classic car parade each year.
He was a generous man and was always willing to offer help to anyone who needed it. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Alan’s superb collection will be going under the hammer over the course of the next 12 months beginning with April’s specialist event.
