M&M Specialist Auctioneers offer a professional in-house postage and packing service for auction purchases. This service provides buyers with a reliable, cost-effective and secure delivery option, particularly for collectables and fragile items.

All items are packed by our experienced dispatch team with over 10 years’ packing and shipping experience, ensuring lots are protected appropriately for transit.

Delivery Services Used

We primarily ship using:

  • Royal Mail Tracked services (UK dispatch)

  • Specialist couriers where required (depending on size, weight, fragility or value)

International orders are usually shipped via FedEx (or an equivalent suitable carrier).

Packing Standards

Items are packed using appropriate protective materials, including:

  • Strong cartons

  • Bubble wrap and void fill

  • Reinforced packing for fragile items

  • Multi-layer protection for high-risk collectables

Where suitable, we will combine multiple lots into one parcel to reduce overall cost (subject to safe packing, size and weight limits).

Dispatch Times

Items are normally packed and dispatched within 2 working days of cleared payment.

During busy periods (particularly following major auctions), dispatch may take slightly longer. We always aim to process orders as efficiently as possible and appreciate your patience at peak times.

Typical Costs (Guide)

We aim to keep packing and delivery charges fair and transparent. As a guide:

  • Average UK parcel cost: approximately £12

  • Average international parcel cost (2025): approximately £25

Please note that costs vary depending on parcel size, weight, value, and destination.

Important Delivery Information

  • Packing and dispatch commences only once payment has cleared

  • Buyers may arrange their own courier if preferred (collection by appointment)

  • If additional shipping insurance is required, buyers must request this before postage is quoted and confirmed

  • M&M Specialist Auctioneers do not accept liability for loss or damage in transit

Postage & Packing – Frequently Asked Questions

Can I arrange my own courier?

Yes. Buyers are welcome to arrange their own courier collection. Payment must be cleared prior to release, and collection must be booked in advance with our team.

Do you combine shipping on multiple lots?

Where practical, yes. We will always aim to combine multiple lots into fewer parcels to reduce delivery costs, subject to safe packing requirements, size, weight and fragility.

How quickly will my items be dispatched?

Items are normally packed and dispatched within 2 working days of cleared payment. Dispatch may take longer during busy periods, particularly immediately after large auctions.

Which delivery services do you use?

We mainly use Royal Mail Tracked services for UK shipments. Larger, heavier, more fragile or higher-value lots may be shipped using alternative specialist couriers where appropriate.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes. We ship internationally and overseas shipments are typically sent using FedEx (or an equivalent suitable service).

How much does international shipping typically cost?

International costs vary, however as a guide the average price of international parcels in 2025 was approximately £25, depending on destination, size, weight and value.

Do you insure items in transit?

If additional insurance is required, buyers must request this prior to postage being quoted and confirmed, so that the correct service can be arranged.

What if my parcel is lost or damaged in transit?

While we take great care with packing, M&M Specialist Auctioneers do not accept liability for loss or damage during transit. If insurance is required, this must be requested prior to dispatch. In the event of an issue, we will assist where possible with carrier documentation and tracking information.

Can I request special packing?

Yes. Certain lots may require specialist packing due to fragility or value. Please contact us in advance if you believe your items require additional protection or a specific packing approach.
